Bug Out Land Development For The Doomsday Prepper
Bug Out Land For The Doomsday Prepper!
Do you know where you would go if SHTF and you were forced to bug out of your house? As a prepper I asked this question of myself and realized that I couldn't really bug out to anywhere because all land is owned by someone. This realization prompted me to start figuring out how I could find and purchase my own property suited for a good bug out location. This is my story of its preparation. Enjoy.

The Bare Necessities
Being prepared or self sufficient requires a vast knowledge in all things related to the bare necessities of life. These bare necessities of life for the human are water, shelter, oxygen, and food. Oxygen is pretty simple, keep your head out of water or an unventilated space and you should have all the oxygen you need. The others however, take a lifetime of learning and practice to be able to create for yourself a sustainable life system where you do not depend on a fragile infrastructure to feed, shelter, and clothe you and your family. Preppers and/or survivalists have accepted that self sustainability is the best defense against a breakdown or failure in that fragile infrastructure that most of the world naively depends on.
Mali Factors | Another Reason To Prep
1-17-2013
Today I want to discuss the nation of Mali, more specifically the underlying events that led up to today’s situation (1-17-2013). But first some of you might be wondering what place an article on foreign current events has in a blog such as this. It is a legitimate question, but from my perspective prevention is the best cure. And prevention of a SHTF circumstance makes it incumbent upon each of us to be informed voters. Further, I frankly doubt that anyone can truly consider themselves to be informed by simply relying on today’s mainstream media outlets.

Who Needs Thirty Rounds Anyway?
During these troubling times I often hear media and other gun-control advocates ask the question, “Why does anyone need a thirty round magazine anyway?”

The Day Of Reckoning Is Upon You
Society has collapsed. There is no law and order. There is no water coming out of the pipes, or food on the grocery store shelves. There is no electricity to pump gas with, or to refine more. Cars all coast to a stop as they run out of gas. Some people learn to use hand pumps to recover gasoline from underground tanks at gas stations. That runs out.

It Started Like Any Other Day
Winter is beginning to set in. It’s mid morning and you are at work. It’s that time of year when the mornings can be very cold. However, the afternoons can still warm up just enough that the heavy coat you put on in the morning is too hot to wear by the time you take your lunch break. You look up from your computer to glance out the fifth story window, the floor you are on in a ten story building, to get an idea of the temperature outside. You are thinking about walking down to the corner deli for lunch and you want to see if you can gauge the temperature by looking outside. In about ten minutes you will be breaking for lunch so you want to see if the people on the sidewalks have removed their heavy coats yet.

Refugee
A refugee is one that flees. A refugee is a person who flees to escape danger, persecution, or any SHTF scenario. One example would be the 1906 San Francisco earthquake that left 250,000 people homeless. These people were refugees that had escaped the danger of the earthquake. Consider this example that took place in Belgium in May of 1940. The Nazi’s methodically bombed towns and villages in order to choke the roads with refugees. The idea was to slow down and confound the advancing allied armies when they encountered the hordes of refugees fleeing for their lives on those roads. These refugees were literally used as weapons of war. Now that is one heck of an SHTF development.
