The Survival Lifestyle
Being prepared for any disaster, whether man made or natural, is of the utmost importance for you and your family’s security. The threats are countless. Whether WROL, SHTF, criminals, earthquakes, floods, economic collapse, or what have you, being prepared for what may come is a lifestyle. One of many descriptive terms for it is prepping. As a prepper, there are countless topics and technologies one must learn and conquer. Here, we dive into these topics and take the mystery out of them.
The Journey Begins
I have begun the journey into preparedness. On this journey I will learn to store food, grow food, and prepare that food. Drinking water, canning, vacuum sealing, first aid, and more are just some of the topics I will learn and practice in my survival system. I will secure my family and home against all predators whether human or animal, street thugs or tyranny’s jack booted minions. I am preparing to "bug in", but am capable of bugging out if necessary. I will traverse the many aspects of self sustainability and I invite you to join me on that journey.
Suburbitat Defined
As this journey has progressed I have realized that in the event of an economic collapse, EMP strike, nuclear event, or something of that magnitude, we would be propelled back into a "wild America" type of lifestyle. What this means is that suddenly we could find ourselves without the services that we take for granted now. We won't be able to turn on the tap and get water, we won't be able to flip a switch and see in the dark, we won't be able to run to the store and get dinner for the evening. We will only be able to depend on ourselves to take care of these things. We will have two choices, bug out, or bug in. We don't know which choice we will have to make... so wisdom suggests preparing for both. I prepare for both, but bugging in is preferable. Where we live now is where we will bug in and this is/will be our habitat. Since my environment is a suburban environment, and it is my habitat, I began calling it my suburbitat hence, the name of this project and this journey. Please join me as we learn and become self reliant together.
